Notice is hereby given of the Oneida Township Election Commission “Public Accuracy and Logic Test” for the November 2, 2021 General election has been scheduled for Monday, October 25, 2021 at 11:00 A.M. at Oneida Township Hall, 11041 Oneida Rd. Grand Ledge, Michigan. The Public Accuracy Test is conducted to demonstrate the program and computers that will be used to tabulate the results of the election, counts the votes in the manner prescribed as set forth by law. (MCL 168.798(1))

A Public Hearing will be held Wednesday, November 3, at the Oneida Charter Township Hall, 11041 Oneida Rd., Grand Ledge, Michigan, 48837 at 7:00 p.m.  The purpose of the hearing is to notify the public of the request for a Special Land Use Permit for a veterinary clinic – relocation of Hartel Veterinary Hospital, parcel #030-077-000-025-02, 11966 Sweetwater Drive, Grand Ledge, Michigan.

A Public Hearing will be held Wednesday, November 3, 2021, at the Oneida Charter Township Hall, 11041 Oneida Rd., Grand Ledge, Michigan, 48837 at 5:30 p.m.  The purpose of the hearing is to notify the public of a variance request for parcel 030-077-000-025-02 at 11966 Sweetwater Drive, Grand Ledge, MI 48837.  The variance request is to allow the option for occasional overnight stays for patients who require overnight care at the veterinary clinic (not a 24-hour care facility).

PLEASE TAKE FURTHER NOTICE that the following proposals will appear on the ballot:

City of Potterville - Proposal for Initiated Ordinance Number 2021-0001, Repeal of Marihuana Prohibition

A proposed initiated ordinance in the City of Potterville to repeal the City’s prohibition of marihuana establishments and to allow and regulate the operation of marihuana establishments within the City in accordance with the Michigan Regulation and Taxation of Marihuana Act, MCL 333.27951 et seq. 

The ordinance would require the City to authorize the following number of state licensed Marihuana Establishments for operation within the City boundaries:

  • 1 Marihuana Safety Compliance Facility
  • 1 Marihuana Secure Transporter
  • 2 Marihuana Retailers
  • 1 Marihuana Processor
  • 1 Class A Marihuana Grower
  • 1 Class B Marihuana Grower
  • 1 Class C Marihuana Grower
  • 1 Designated Consumption Establishment

                  The ordinance would also:

  • Require individuals and entities to receive a license from the State of Michigan and the City to operate a marihuana establishment within the City;
  • Establish applications fees and procedures for individuals and entities to apply for a license from the City to operate a marihuana establishment within the City;
  • Prescribe standards by which the City shall review and process license applications;
  • Establish procedures and standards for renewal, revocation, and suspension of a City-issued license to operate a marihuana establishment within the City;
  • Establish a Community Benefits Program to assist individuals disproportionately impacted by the City’s prior marihuana prohibition; and
  • Impose other regulations and requirements related to marihuana establishments. 

                        Should this ordinance be adopted?

GRAND LEDGE PUBLIC SCHOOLS SINKING FUND MILLAGE PROPOSAL
This proposal will allow the school district to continue to levy building and site sinking fund millage previously approved by the electors.

Shall the limitation on the amount of taxes which may be assessed against all property in Grand Ledge Public Schools, Eaton, Clinton and Ionia Counties, Michigan, be increased by and the board of education be authorized to levy not to exceed .7921 mill ($0.7921 on each $1,000 of taxable valuation) for a period of 3 years, 2022, 2023 and 2024, to continue to provide for a sinking fund for the repair or construction of, and the purchase of real estate for sites for, school buildings and all other purposes authorized by law; the estimate of the revenue the school district will collect if the millage is approved and levied in 2022 is approximately $1,312,776?

Monday, November 1, 2021 at 4:00 pm is the deadline to request an absentee ballot except for those who register to vote on Election Day. Ballots issued on Monday, November 1, 2021 must be requested and voted in person at the township or city office, locations referenced in the above table.

Those registering to vote on Election Day, Tuesday, November 2, 2021, are eligible to receive an absent voter ballot at the township or city clerk’s office, locations referenced in the above table.
